The late Lt. Governor Jack Mildren was a man of great drive, good humor, an intense interest in economic development and getting it done.

Mildren was honored by the Knights of Columbus for -- among other things -- answering the call to attend a small benefit dinner to support one of the KOC members stricken with MS and struggling to make ends meet.

It took Mildren about a second to agree to come to this dinner and he spoke movingly and inspirationally that evening about his own disease, stomach cancer, to which he succumbed in the spring of 2008.
